CHAPTER THIRTY

Life 58, Age 16, Martial Disciple 5

While my reception upon arriving at the Pavilion had not been quite as warm as I had hoped, the room I was given was the same one as the first time I was here, and I was able to purchase supplies at the same rate as always. As long as I could pay for it, I had access to pretty much anything I might need. So, I made use of this opportunity to quickly advance my cultivation base.

I used the modest wealth that I had received from selling my first pill to purchase several blue peonies and quickly converted them into Perfect Basic Qi Gathering Pills. Then, using these pills, I broke through twice, reaching Martial Disciple 2 then 3 in short order by opening the acupoints in both my left and right hands.

With the qi in my hands supporting me, I next crafted several Perfect Improved Qi Gathering Pills and used them to break through in my upper right and upper left arm in sequence, reaching Martial Disciple 5.

When I had first entered this world, I had struggled to reach Martial Disciple 4, and my first time breaking through to Martial Disciple 5 was a true accomplishment. At that time, I was using a Low-Yellow technique and wasn’t filtering the qi I cultivated at all.

Now, after centuries of effort and the assistance of a few pills that I had made myself, I was able to ascend from Martial Disciple 1 to 5 in only a few days. I was cultivating a Peak-Yellow technique, and my cultivation base was absolutely pristine.

Secluded in the basement of the Blue Wind Pavilion, I was thrilled with how far I had come, but there was one sore spot that kept me from being truly happy. Each day, at roughly the same time every day, I would receive a visitor, and every. single. day. this visit had become more tiresome than the last.
